There’s been one other thread amongst the chaos of Secret Empire that was finally unravelled this week. Revealed back in Civil War II, was a prophecy that Spider-Man would be responsible for the death of Captain America, as a vision showed Miles Morales standing with bloody fists above a beaten and apparently dead Steve Rogers. This week, someone did die.

Spider-Man has had dozens of costumes over the years. Sometimes wearing pristine white threads that signal his role as a teacher within the future foundation, other times dressed inside of an organic extra-terrestrial parasite that may him push to act on darker impulses. Peter Parker may find himself constantly going back to his classic look, but at least he isn’t afraid to experiment with new fashion styles. Here’s ten of his best costumes that he has slipped into.

For the last time, this isn't a beautifully detailed Owl-Man action figure. It's Batman dammit! Specifically the Batman sporting a more tatcical outfit from the upcoming Justice League movie.

For a crimefighter who happens to be on the wrong end of 70, Batman is looking pretty spry these days. Reinvented and reborn countless times, the dark knight even gets to unwind for one day every year: The titular Batman day. Not this year though, because the caped crusader is stepping aside to allow one of the more memorable characters of his rogues gallery to steal the spotlight: Harley Quinn.

Last year’s Rebirth event was the first attempt for DC to get back to basics, reminding the world that heroes were now needed more than ever. This was a genuine attempt by DC to distance itself away from the grim-dark era of comic books, but the next step? What DC refers to as “evergreen” stories, graphic novels which are free of the continuity of their mainstream books.

Something is coming to the DC Multiverse. A threat of titanic proportions, a danger which even the Justice League is unprepared for: Batman. Not their Batman mind you, but rather the Batmen of a dark multiverse that is hellbent on extinguishing the light of our universe.

One day, I’ll have a date (A REAL ONE DAMMIT) and I’ll be all like “Yeah I make six figures a year” and she’ll be so impressed until she realises that I mean action figures. No regrets. I am expecting a tinge of buyer’s remorse later in the year though, because Hot Toys is at the San Diego Comic Con and they’ve got plenty of prototypes on show again.

Easily the most bizarre team-up of them all however, has to be DC’s partnership with Kentucky Fried Chicken, a finger-lickin’ alliance that has seen Colonel Sanders join forces with the Justice League in the past to save the multiverse from extinction. By the breezy robes of Ganthet on Oa’s hottest day of the year, it was brilliant. The third time is the charm, as the Colonel will be lending eleven secret herbs and spices in the kickass department to Green Lantern in KFC #3 Across the Universe.
