A forging of positive emotions have been the driving force behind DC Comics ever since the Rebirth initiative kicked off in 2016. It’s that brighter mindset which will soon find itself challenged in a new DC Comics mini-series out later this year that looks like it’ll reintroduce the Watchmen to that universe while co-creator Alan Moore screams into the abyss, called “Doomsday Clock”.

Their is a weight of expectation that Wonder Woman could finally be the film that gives the DC Cinematic Universe something positive to talk about. Can the film live up to these expectations? Early press screening buzz suggest it just might.

Wonder Woman should be that film which hits both nails on the head the first time. An all-star cast, setting and a hero who deserves a chance in the shine in a universe that DC Comics and Warner Bros are also heavily banking on. Current box office estimates point towards a fairly decent opening, from anywhere between $65 million on the lowest end of the spectrum through to $115 million at its highest. Which is allpure guesswork at this stage.

Sanity prevailed in the end and the tyrant of steelknown as Superman was eventually stopped, tossed into the most maximum of prisons to live out the rest of his days under the glare of red solar radiation lights. In Injustice 2 #5 by Tom Taylor, Daniel Sampere, Juan Abarran and Rex Lokus, someone wants that Superman out.

The former boy wonder is going to be going off the rails slightly in Nightwing: New Order. Metahumans are a tad too prevalent in the DCU, and somebody has to level the playing field for ordinary humans who happen to have been trained to peak physical perfection by the world’s greatest detective. That somebody happens to be Nightwing, as he’ll spend the next decade wiping out the metahuman populace in a world where superpowers are illegal.

DARK DAYS: THE FORGE begins with a discovery, and a secret. Aquaman, The Flash and more of DC’s pantheon of heroes suspect Batman of hiding a dark secret that could threaten the very existence of the Multiverse! What has he discovered? And how does this connect to the origins of one of DC’s most legendary heroes?

The first weekend of May is also the day wherein people get their first taste of comics with Free Comic Book Day.It’s easy to get into it: All you have to do is hit your local comic book shop, choose which printed medium has the pictures on the front which appeal to you the most and you can have it. For free, no questions asked. This year’s selection comes in two flavours: A gold edition of 12 comics and a silver selection of dozens more. I have no idea what that means, but free comics dudes. It’s awesome. here’s what you can expect to find at your retailer this week.

It's just under a month until Wonder Woman hits our screens, and director Patty Jenkins already knows where she wants to take the sequel.
