One of 2019’s best video games is now one of the best of 2020. Capcom hit the jackpot with Devil May Cry 5 last year, and with a new generation of consoles having landed, it’s heralding in that age of bleeding edge hardware with an S-Rank upgrade to the original game. Devil May Cry 5 with new graphical enhancements and the inclusion of fan-favourite bad brother Vergil? That’s just makes for a brilliant game.

Devil May Cry V Special Edition not only makes Dante’s infinitely cooler and swifter brother Vergil playable, but you’ll be able to slay demons at lightning-fast frame-rate.

One of the games that has helped cement Capcom and the renaissance it is going through currently, Devil May Cry 5 is pure S-class fun all the way to the bank.

After all, what better way is there to remember Dante than as a sword-wielding warrior with a pistol in each hand? If you’re looking to do just that with a shrine to the legend, then good news! Pop culture statue purveyor Prime 1 will be rolling out a Dante statue to go with the recently revealed Nero in their Devil May Cry collection, based on his appearance in DMC V.

A new challenger has entered the field, and while it does have a few neat ideas of its own, maybe the biggest gun in its arsenal is the chance to take to the field and wield the might of several of Capcom’s heaviest hitters. It’s called Teppen, and even though I am beyond disappointed that it’s not based on one of the best anime series of all time, it does look kind of neat.

This year saw Nero given an upgrade when his trusty sword-arm was ripped away from him, as he began wielding Devil Breaker arms that ramped the stylish meter up to ludicrous new levels. Action so intense, that it can only be replicated in glorious painted polystone. Which of course has a price tag attached to it that is currently causing my wallet to experience what it feels like to be devil triggered.

Zip, zilch, nada. That’s what on the horizon for Devil May Cry 5. Which is both incredibly refreshing and sad. While Devil May Cry 3 and 4 would pop out a special edition after release, Capcom looks set to close the book on the magnificent fifth chapter of the series, which in itself could be the perfect swansong for the entire franchise.

In many ways, Devil May Cry’s Bloody Palace is the OG battle royale simulator. One hundred floors of action, one devil slayer and a chicken dinner waiting at the top. It'll be ready, on April 1.
