The studio behind Deathloop is looking forward to the future in which it’s one of Microsoft’s prime-time studios

In a roundtable discussion that had very little in the background to confirm that Metal Gear Rising 2 was in development, Xboss Phil Spencer, Bethesda’s Pete Hines, and various other big names spoke about the future of the game publisher now that it had joined the Xbox family.

It’s official! Bethesda Softworks will once again be popping up at E3 this year, having not only a stage floor presence but also its own showcase that kicks off a few days before the main event.

Billie Lurke is back in a standalone expansion to Dishonored 2 as she makes good use of her own set of supernatural abilities to be a blade in the dark. Fans of the highly-rated DLC from the first Dishonored game get another treat, in that the Knife of Dunwall himself pops up to further mentor players in their battle to slay a god. Daud’s well that ends well.

Bethesda has been on a roll. Not only have their games maintained a level of quality, they’ve also been popping out onto shelves more regularly. I’m starting to think that they’re feeling the pressure of being more consistent, of trying to find a balance between quality and quantity. It’s not an impossible task, but it is one that is fraught with peril if even one game is lacklustre upon release.

Dishonored was a fine game when it was first released a couple of years ago, but it was strangely even finer with its range of downloadable content that featured a new assassin under the mask. Duad was his name, and killing was his game as he was forced to deal with all manner of arcania in his own personal quest. Many years later, and it appears that the legendary knife of Dunwall hasn’t lost his edge.
