Warlords of New York is a massive leap forward for The Division 2, a fun diversion that aims to be less repetitive and more engaging. There’s a big picture being developed here, one that’ll make the trademark grind of The Division 2 more addictive than ever before as civil war rages on in the streets of the divided states of America.

Warlords of New York takes you back to the original isle of Manhattan for a showdown with rogue agents who have carved out their own empire in the ruins of the big pineapple (for a standalone price that is). Across Civic Center, Battery Park, Two Bridges, and the Financial District, you’ll need to first update the game and prepare yourself for the aforementioned embiggening download.

Things have been pretty quiet on the Division 2 front. The second game in Ubisoft and Massive’s open world action RPG didn’t quite have the impact the first game did. Much of its import was robbed by a weak end-game and unnecessarily punishing raid that sapped player confidence, leading many to move on to other things. Yesterday, Ubisoft promised that something big was coming to The Division 2, for a reveal later this evening.

For most of 2019, The Division 2 has been focused on saving Washington DC. After routing the Outcasts, Hyenas and the Black Tusk, it’s safe to say that an army of Division agents have done just that. It’s time then, to not only clean up Washington DC, but to save the rest of America from the gangs and militias ravaging the nation in the wake of the Dollar Flu epidemic that saw an empire toppled.

Normally, sticking your head out like a meerkat in The Division 2 will result in a near instantaneous death…unless you’re laying as the new Gunner specialisation that is. Joining the Sharpshooter, Demolitionist and Survivalist, the Gunner scoffs at the idea of cover (SCOFFS TO THE MAX) and instead walks into danger with a minigun that will rip foes apart.

So you’ve given the Hyena’s a good walloping and you’ve sent the Black Tusk crying back to mommy with their tails between their legs. Or you’ve made their mom’s cry because let’s face it you killed them all. So so many dead bodies in The Division 2. What’s next for the seasoned agent looking to take back control of Washington DC? A raid!

Every now and then, there’s a little coded language that pops up in The Division 2, a barrier to play that must mean something. Something to do with trotting foxes and Zulu time, I’m certain. Many agents died to uncover the origins of these error codes, partly because I’m a terrible logistics support person who kept sending IT soldiers into dens of action that they were woefully unprepared for.
