There’s plenty of terrific stuff in the new trailer for Justice League, most of which seems dedicated to what I’d imagine is the third act of the film: There’s a conveniently abandoned Eastern-European City, the Parademons of Apocalypse have turned a nuclear reactor into a nesting ground and the Justice League is united for a final stand against SteppenWolf and his hordes. Still no Superman in action, which is the smartest marketing move by Warner Bros. so far I reckon.

Hot Toys may be the Ferrari of realistic collectibles, but they’re not the only game in town. Especially when there’s a buck to be made selling less than legal bootleg toys in the process. Unlike the days of Robert-Cop however, the people who roll out such figures are actually producing a damn fine alternative that just manages to skirt the line of the copyright that would like to bust them.

Something is coming to the DC Multiverse. A threat of titanic proportions, a danger which even the Justice League is unprepared for: Batman. Not their Batman mind you, but rather the Batmen of a dark multiverse that is hellbent on extinguishing the light of our universe.

Batman’s experiments will lead to the Justice League exploring a new multiverse that happens to be home to “The Justice League clad in ‘90s action figure armour plating fighting in an alien combat arena”. It sounds silly, weird and dammit I WANT TO READ THIS RIGHT NOW.

Whereas the Rebirth initiative was a tonal reboot for the entire pantheon of DC Comics heroes and villains, it wasn’t a proper reboot. It wasn’t Crisis on Infinite Earths or Zero Hour: Crisis In Time. The New 52 universe was still the prime reality for Superman and pals. Until now that is.

I know that this is the third Injustice 2 trailer that I’ve posted this week, but hear me out: It’s a different kind of cool, unlike my horrific ice puns that I used for the Captain Cold spotlight videos. That’s because it dips into some proper comic book geekery this week, presenting a threat to Batman’s task force and Superman’s Regime that only a Justice League can fight back against: The Society.

We’ve already had one peek at the DC’s biggest attempt to sucker-punch Marvel with their own shared universe of iconic characters, a glimpse of things to come which hinted at a film that wasn’t in dire need of a prescription for Prozac and was ready to actually crack a smile between super-powered beatdowns. That’s a flavour which continues in the first official trailer for Justice League.
