While Fortnite is the kind of game that actually requires some skill to play it, its rising popularity has also made it massively popular with a subset of jackasses who use every hack and cheat code under the sun to steal an advantage from more legitimate players. Said enfants terrible may be the bane of many a player, but even they’re not immune from another bastard-coated bastard with extra creamy bastard filling on the inside: Hackers.

Fortnite has nearly 80 million players logging in to be the last man standing every month, which is a phenomenal number of people playing a single game. You’d imagine, with those numbers, that it’d be the biggest game in the world. It’s not though; Minecraft is still unfathomably popular, drawing in over 90 million active players every month. With over 150 million copies sold over the years, it’s the second best-selling game ever, coming in just after Tetris.

Fortnite’s Season 6 landed yesterday, bringing with it more than a hundred new cosmetic items to unlock, Pets, changes to locations, areas to discover, Halloween stuff and more. It also introduced some unintended boob physics, eliciting giggles from the horde of 12-year-old boys I imagine spend every waking hour playing Fortnite.

Yesterday, news broke that Sony had finally come to its senses regarding cross-platform play. Starting yesterday, Fortnite players from across the available collection of supported platforms could play together – just the way it should be. Now, Fortnite is getting account merging.

Sony has finally reneged on the idea of cross-platform cross play, by opening up an extended beta of play that’ll let PlayStation owners out of their walled garden for a bit. PlayStation 4 Fortnite players will be able to test their mettle against not just Pc and mobile players, but also those playing on Xbox One and Switch.

Epic Games decided to skip Google’s Play Store for the release of Fortnite on Android. They did this primarily to avoid giving google a 30% cut of profits just for using their store. Many people wondered if this would be a security risk, given that the installer doesn’t go through the Google’s security checks. It turns out these fears weren’t unfounded.

A brand new patch for Fortnite Battle Royale dropped yesterday, adding two new limited time modes, a new heavy sniper rifle and a few more changes and additions. Unfortunately, the patch seems to have also added an unintended addition: crashes.

Fortnite is officially out in beta on Android, but right now it’s only available for Samsung devices. That doesn’t mean those of you who don’t favour Samsung’s Android phones can’t get in on the mobile action. Beta signups are available for other Android devices, though the range of handsets that’ll run the beta right now is quite limited.
