Driving, soccer and AN UNMERCILESS CRUSADE TO DRIVE THE ENEMIES OF MANKIND BACK INTO THE EYE OF TERROR ALL HAIL THE GOD EMPEROR! Yeah, May looks alright on the free games side. Xbox Live’s carrot on the stick offering of free monthly games may have diminished somewhat as the Game Pass service has grown over the last couple of years, but here’s a look at what you’ll be able to grab for free come the best month of the year.

Got an Xbox Live subscription but zero cash in the pocket? Well good news chums, because the month ahead looks rather spiffy when it comes to games. PlayStation’s scored a goal with their PlayStation Plus games for June. You’ve got the Borderlands Handsome Collection (itself a collection of two games, one of which is great and the other is a middling cash-grab of a prequel), and Sonic Mania, arguably the best Sonic game in the history of Sonic games. The Xbox Games with Gold for next month don’t quite score goals, but they’ll let you score them.

I’ve largely stopped carting about the games that come with Xbox Live’s Games With gold and the PlayStation Instant game collection. That sheen is especially missing when the collection of gratis games is middling or just not for me.
