It’s official! Google is entering the gaming sphere, and they’re planning to bring some massive disruption to the traditional hardware sphere that gaming has existed in for many a year now. Revealed last night at GDC 2019, Google’s Stadia will bring gaming to just about any device, without the requirement of a dedicated hardware box beyond the display itself to run games.

They may be able to create world-class software, but Google is proving less successful at making their own hardware work out.

We put a man on the moon fifty years ago, so surely our best and brightest minds can come together to solve humanity’s greatest problem next to the impending hellstorm the planet is about to become in a few years: Playing video games without needing to drop all the dimes on fancy console or PC hardware. Google reckons that they’ve got the problem licked.

Rumours about Google’s entry into the console gaming space have swirled for what seems an eternity now. Now, the tech company is set to unveil its “vision for the future of gaming” at GDC next week. Google released a teaser trailer last night, which doesn’t really tell us anything at all – but it’s very definitely related to games.

Google’s Android platform has no doubt dominated the mobile OS market, but it appears the company is still pursuing even further dominance in the market but this time looking to make their own chipsets as well.
