Everybody wants a slice of that Battle Royale pie right now that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds happens to have cornered the market on. Fortnite has shamelessly stolen all the best ideas of PUBG’s pioneering work and found massive success, while even Paladins has hopped on the bandwagon with their own take on the formula. IO Interactive and publisher Square Enix parted ways, leaving the studio to fend for itself in the wilds of a hostile gaming industry. IO Interactive survived, finding funding that would secure a second season of Hitman. Perhaps Square Enix was unfairly painted as the villain in this story, as Hitman was a success both critically and financially. What gives? Why would the publisher give up on the Hitman business?

Streaming service Hulu are working with John Wick creator Derek Kolstad to bring IO Interactive's Hitman franchise to the small screen. They're hoping Agent 47 will headline a flagship series for the network, so let's hope in turn that it's far better than the movies we've seen based on the franchise.
