Bleach still has its fans, believer who are dying to see the final and cataclysmic chapters of the saga given a proper send-off in anime. Good news! Bleach will finally meet its animated end, as a brand new original video animation series will hit screens in 2020. After that, the Thousand Year Blood War story that ended the manga will arrive in 2021.

Based on Katsuhiro Otomo’s cult classic manga series and directed by him as well, Akira was a groundbreaking mix of animation techniques and narrative at the time, the spark that helped fan the flames for an anime inferno in the west in the years to come. Since then, new Akira content has pretty much been relegated to nothing more than homages to Kanada’s infamous motorcycle slide in other media, but that’s all about to change in the next couple of years.

The shinobi subterfuge of Naruto, the bonkers bankai of Bleach and One Piece’s enduring silliness provided for some fantastic spectacle in the pages of Shonen Jump. The genre is still alive and well, but there’s a new kid on the Shonen block who is giving readers something that they’ve seldom seen: An education. One of the most popular manga series currently out, Dr Stone by Inagaki Riichiro and Boichi is some of the most damn fun you can have with seeing the power of science in a brave new world.
