It was only recently that we got a confirmed release date for Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 4 swansong, The Last of Us II. The gamer was pegged for a February 2020 release, but now that’ll no longer be happening. It’s a curious delay given that Sony recently held previews for the game, showing it off to select press at an event. After a few rumours suggesting the game’s delay, Sony and Naughty Dog have confirmed that The Last of Us II will now be coming towards the middle of the year.

So what’s changing in The Last of Us Part 2? A new addition to the fungal hordes, as well as some new tactics on their part as they attempt to spread their spores with cunning new strategies.

In The Last of Us Part 2, that vital chest organ is more than just the engine which moves a body forward. It’s an actual gameplay feature, with the post-apocalypse sequel somehow managing to give every character in the game a heart of their own.

It feels like the Uncharted move may just never get made with its revolving door of director,s but Sony is not giving up hope announcing that Travis Knight is now stepping into the directors chair for the highly anticipated video game film adaptation.

Despite an interview given in 2018 stating multiplayer would be a component in The Last of Us Part 2, it has been confirmed that it will not be making its way into the final release.

Tonight’s PlayStation State of Play event may have been heavy on delightfuly quirky games and very very light on rumoured caped crusader reveals starring a certain gang of night owls, but the show didn’t end without Sony revealing one big card up their sleeve: The Last of Us Part II. Long in development and shrouded in mystery, the upcoming sequel to the hit post-apocalypse adventure from several years ago finally has a release date: February 21, 2020.

You’ll no longer be able to play the multiplayer of Uncharted 2, 3 and The Last of Us as Sony has officially turned off the games’ servers.

As the first game was for the PlayStation 3, The Last of Us II is probably going to the be the PlayStation 4’s great big swansong. It’ll be one of the last big first-party games coming to the PlayStation 4 before we head into the next generation. The big question of course, is when it’s even coming.
