You know what’s a great game? Hotline Miami, a brutally difficult top-down experience which doesn’t hold back. You know what’s a great movie scene? That bit from X-Men 2 where Nightcrawler goes on a teleporting rampage throughout the White House. Wouldn’t it be cool if the two got together with one of the better stick-fighting scenes from Kung Fu Hustle and had a baby? Battle Chasers, a fantasy steampunk series of comic books with the publishing schedule of James Cameron’s Avatar’s sequels. Battle Chasers would eventually cease printing after nine issues and a prelude, a pity really because the series had potential. A combination of all things arcaney and steamy, it wore its RPG influences proudly on its giant oversized gloves. It was fun, brief and colourful. But far from dead, as THQ Nordic has grand plans for the franchise.
Solstice Chronicles: MIA is a twin-stick shooter with tight action, overwhelming odds and some bastard enemies. But the real charm of this game lies within its ability to make ever bullet fired have an actual impact on the challenges ahead of you.
