Former Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has a few ideas on how E3 can stay fresh, exciting, and relevant in a rapidly changing industry.

Nintendo needed a big hit after the Wii U flopped, and it fortunately arrived in the form of a console that was equally at home when docked to a TV or nestled in your hands when you were out in the street. Nintendo’s business is primarily Switch-focused now, as the console is pretty much the main event player that brings in all the big cash for the company.

In an age where gaming was getting pretty extreme, Nintendo’s marketing team over in the US of A were to make the company logo more radical dude, so that they could shed their kiddie game moniker. Plans and prototypes were made, and Nintendo almost underwent a cosmetic brand change until big daddy Reggie Fils-Aime stepped in to kick those plans square in the Deku nuts.

For the last 15 years, Nintendo of America has been shepherded by a walking mountain of raw beef, who also happens to be one of the most amiable, gentlest and enthusiastic people in the video game business. Reggie Fils-Aime started at Nintendo of America in 2003 as its Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing and, just three years later became its President and COO. He’s now stepping away to spend more time with his family and friends.

Nintendo’s Switch has been out for a week and a half, and while it’s impossible to know just how many systems are affected, there exists an alarming number of reports of issues. Nintendo says it's not very many.

Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime has defended the five game strong Switch launch line-up, saying it's more about "steady pacing".
