Warner is going to ditch the emphasis on setting up a single universe for characters to inhabit and allow its heroes and villains to have some breathing room instead of shoehorning an obligatory cameo into their silver screen saga. That’s the lesson learnt from Wonder Woman, a film which may have connections to the DCEU but was also content to be a stellar solo flick.

After setting the bat among the pigeons this week with a quote that appeared to claim The Batman will not be part of the DCEU, director Matt Reeves has now cleared all the confusion.

At the San Diego Comic Con, the Warner Bros. Panel confirmed that Gal Gadot would once again suit up as the mighty Amazon while DC’s big cheese Geoff Johns writes the script, although director Patty Jenkins has yet to confirm if she’ll be back to helm the sequel. A deal is expected to be inked soon however. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! DC’s current slate of sequels and original films is looking mighty strong.

Armie Hammer already came pretty close to donning some spandex in the DC Comics universe in the failed Justice League: Mortal. And if it were up to some people, he would be getting a second chance.
