With 2017 done and dusted, it’s time to look forward to what 2018 has to offer. Will there be more loot boxes, controversies that explode in our faces and at least one instance of a game being broken on launch. Probably! But it’ll also be a year filled with all manner of new games, titles which can scratch specific itches and prove that the video game industry is the single greatest entertainment medium alive today. Here’s a look at ten games that we’re hot under the collar for in the year ahead.

Ubisoft’s got a much-improved sequel to The Crew popping up in 2018, a successor in the high-octane genre that has realised that nobody wants to have some balmy story of revenge and redemption nipping on their exhaust pipe when they take a corner at a ludicrous speed. The Crew 2 is skipping that nonsense, focusing rather on the actual thrill of speed and the pure joy of unbridled engine power whether it be on land, sea or in the air.

Another year, another E3 done and dusted! Possibly having too many games yet again, E3 was still home to plenty of winners and gems to keep your feeds open for. Games which made racing fun again, rocked the dragon and were spectacular in action. Here’s our list on the cream of the crop from this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.

The Crew finally started to gel together with Wild Run, as Ubisoft decided to apply those lessons to the first proper sequel to their racing game and double down on not only the social aspects but also the nuttery that drives people to love anything with a V8 engine. Which is why The Crew 2 isn’t just a racing game: It’s a trinity of engineered pursuits that gives players free reign to explore as they see fit.

Even without the presence of the best Whose Line Is It Anyway hostess with the mostess, Ubisoft still rocked their hour of reveals. I like to think that a good press conference should be both entertaining and informative, something that was clearly present today. From Far Cry 5’s confusing about-turn on its tonal direction through to a 2 Crew 2 Furious sequel that seems to have expanded its racing to land, sea and air, Ubisoft had plenty to show off.

What's new in The Crew 2? Well, you won't just drive, unless it counts as driving when you ride a bike or boat or plane. If it has a motor, it's a motorsport in The Crew 2.
