Xbox platform spokesman and terrific photo-bomber (true story!) Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb announced that FPS Boost had been extended to a number of other games, which includes Hollow Knight, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Far Cry 5, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Which is obviously fantastic news because there’s a criminally small amount of Titanfall in every other shooter available these days.

Vince Zampella, founder of Respawn Entertainment, confirmed that there was nothing new brewing on the Titanfall front. Sad, but pretty much expected at this point.

Respawn is made of two development teams. One is hard at work on Apex Legends stuff, while the other is working on the impending star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. That means something has to give, and unfortunately that something is Titanfall.

You can be grumpy about the free-to-play Battle Royale game Apex Legends all you like, but the fact is that Respawns new multiplayer game, set in the Titanfall universe, is a heck of a lot of fun to play, even for people who don’t generally like the genre. It’s a bit like Overwatch meets Fortnite, and is super slick and polished. It doesn't, however, mean that Titanfall is dead.

Titanfall ain’t dead yet, but where Titanfall 3 then? Still a ways away apparently, but maybe there might be some other action on the way in the form of the industry’s latest trend: The battle royale. Spread online by numerous video streamers and influencers because clearly video game bloggers and journalists are incapable of keeping a secret, and corroborated on by Kotaku’s always-reliable Jason Schrier, Apex Legends will see players ditch their Titans in favour of some of that sweet sweet chicken dinner.

Everybody wants a slice of that Battle Royale pie right now that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds happens to have cornered the market on. Fortnite has shamelessly stolen all the best ideas of PUBG’s pioneering work and found massive success, while even Paladins has hopped on the bandwagon with their own take on the formula. Here’s ten such games which we think would transition to the genre perfectly, if it made good use of the defining elements that are present in the design of a good ol’ battle royale.
