Tekken 7: Fated Retribution announced, features Street Fighter’s Akuma

1 min read

It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for Tekken X Street Fighter. The game, along with Capcom’s own crossover fighting game, Street Fighter X Tekken, was announced in 2010. Two years later, we got Capcom’s middling effort; a fighting game that put Street Fighter characters against Tekken ones, using mechanics influenced by Capcom fighters. And also stuffed with stupid gems.

It seems like the other one, the one where Namco jams Street Fighter characters in to a Tekken game that plays more like Tekken is never coming out, especially with Namco and Harada so busy (still!) with Tekken 7.

There’s hope.

It’s starting to look like the latest version of Tekken 7 (the game’s been playable in Japanese arcades since March this year) will segue, somehow, in to Tekken X Street Fighter. How? Well, in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, not only is Street Fighter’s Akuma a playable character, he’s apparently central to the story.

Bandai Namco officially revealed Tekken 7 during its The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015 this weekend, along with a trailer that shows the master of the Satsui no Hado pulling off the sorts of moves you’d expect from a Street Fighter; Hadoukens, Shouryukens and accepting generous offers of some pound cake. It’s all followed up with his quintessential finishing move, Shin Shun Goku Satsu or Wrath of the Raging Demon if you prefer.

From my perspective, it seems that Bandai Namco has absolutely nailed the translation of Street Fighter movesets to the Tekken universe, making me even more excited for Tekken X Street Fighter – which by my reckoning, should be available some time in 2026.

Has anybody played the re-master of Beyond 2 Souls yet?

I have, I have played many PS4 games including The Order 1886 and I can say without a doubt that it is the best looking game on the PS4. Why people hate it? I dont care. Playing as an invisible friend is ominous and dark as fuck.

It is the best facial capture that I have seen. It makes LA Noir look like Dragon Age.

Nope, I’ll play The Order’s sequel. As for Beyond 2 Souls, that’ll have to wait till I have time. Still busy exploring the edge of the map in Fallout. Remember your hazmat suit.

Hazmat Suit? Try a fully loaded out BOS mech suit. Never used Rad Away once 😛

I played that. Nope, Beyond 2 Souls gets it. They went to town on the re-master. They also have the close up of the face when in the pause screen and It trumps all over Until Dawn,

I have no Idea why the game has received no marketing at all.

Soul Calibre, peoeples, not Tekken. Or is that just me? Come on, Namco, do the right thing.

This looks awesome and all that, but….. It needs more, pardon, the expression, soul.
