For every step it takes forward, every week it feels more and more like I’m playing Destiny 2 Steps Back. This week’s Faction Rally is a prime example of Destiny 2 attempting to clean house and breaking something else within its sandbox, as players are somewhat livid over changes made over the Faction token system. Bungie has promised a middle-ground fix for that latest controversy.

The beginning of the gaming industry was a modest one. It took decades for gamers to shrug off the stereotypes of being unsociable, basement-dwelling nerds. It took just as long for gaming to be recognised as a serious industry with far reaching significance and potential for positive social impact. Whilst most of the world lagged behind on the power of gaming, gamers themselves understood and believed in its future. Of course it would be hard to predict just how massive gaming would become and the scope of its competitive scene, but nowadays it is hard to argue against its importance globally.

It’s time to pick a side once again, in Destiny 2. If you’re still around that is. The semi-regular Faction Rally returns to Destiny 2 this week, as the likes of New Monarchy, Dead Orbit and Space NASCAR Future War Cult battle it out once again for bragging rights. Who will you pledge to? Will the Space Goths reign supreme again, or are you after some of those bitchin’ sweet New Monarchy crimson shaders?

Maybe you’re stuck at work and can only log in later tonight to spend some of your legendary shards on new armour and weapons in Destiny 2. In that case: Where is Xur?

Bungie needs to keep its pool of Guardians active and interested. After a few weeks of being incommunicado, Bungie and Destiny 2 game director Christopher Barrett broke their silence with a new look at the months ahead of Guardians.

Destiny 2 may have plenty of critics divided over certain aspects over the base game, but most players can agree on one thing: Those microtransactions need to be toned down. A major gripe for many a Guardian, players don’t exactly dig the fact that the line between earned loot boxes and those available for purchase happens to be blurrier than one of my favourite Puddle of Mudd tracks from the early 2000s.

February is around the corner and with it comes all of that romance stuff. WHAT IS LOVE? Baby don’t hurt me, no more. Especially in Destiny 2’s Crucible, as it’ll soon be home to a game of doubles of the murderous romantic intent variety.

Everybody wants a slice of that Battle Royale pie right now that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds happens to have cornered the market on. Fortnite has shamelessly stolen all the best ideas of PUBG’s pioneering work and found massive success, while even Paladins has hopped on the bandwagon with their own take on the formula. Here’s ten such games which we think would transition to the genre perfectly, if it made good use of the defining elements that are present in the design of a good ol’ battle royale.
