With enough guns available to be confused for America’s lax laws on firearm ownership, you’d think that Destiny 2’s Crucible would be one component of developer Bungie’s sandbox that would draw little complaint from fans. You’d also be wrong, more wrong than you’d ever been on the wrongest day of your life when the only directions that you could turn in were left and wrong.
The road ahead for Destiny 2? 6v6 Crucible matches, reworked shaders and a whole lot more in the cosmetic department for the sandbox shooter.
Maybe 2018 will be the year that publishers decide to scale back on plans to make increasingly expensive video game development cycles a touch bit more profitable. At least that’s what analyst Doug Creutz from financial service and investment banking firm Cowen alluded to, when he spoke to clients on CNBC .

A lot has been said about Destiny 2, from numerous spheres within the industry. Right now, the ball is in Bungie’s court and it’s up to that studio to dunk it and reclaim a few points. While a solid expansion that actually adds variety to the sandbox would be appreciated, it’s going to take some time to lure players back. Time in which only the most hardcore of fans will be sticking around for. So what is there to look forward to? Some decent loot by the sound of things.
Destiny 2 was a pretty good game at launch, but once players had mowed through its content, just about everything the game had to offer became a little less compelling. Post-game content is weak, the first DLC did nothing to improve the game, and Bungie seems to be repeating mistakes it should already have learned from, while making a bunch of new ones in the process.
The current state of Destiny 2 has resulted in some of its biggest online personalities shifting their focus towards other games. The first such casualty? YouTuber Datto, who built an entire channel on Bungie’s franchise and focused primarily on that sandbox shooter for many a moon.
