The naming and numbering conventions for the Battlefield franchise doesn't always make sense, which is why Battlefield V's name sent many an investigative fan down the wrong path when trying to figure what the game was actually about. Now we finally know what it really means.

Since its reveal last week, the hype around Battlefield V has been almost drowned out by an angry chorus from community members who feel that the upcoming game's inclusion of playable female characters (and persons with disabilities) is breaking the franchise's perceived historical accuracy.

It's official! Battlefield V will indeed be going back to WWII. However, DICE will be trying to keep the entire experience fresh by exploring the untold stories and locations of the Second World War. And you can do it all with some friends in co-op!
