EA shortens their non-E3 plans; lengthy EA Play livestream to be held on a single day

By Brad Lang

What was meant to be a weekend-long livestream to showcase new games has been shrunk down to a single day and it’s all very “Hush Hush” EA hasn’t had the most stellar start to their 2019. Even though Apex Legends has been a smash hit for them, huge tentpole titles like Anthem and Battlefield 5 dramatically underperformed both critically and …

Welcome to E3 2019! Over here you’ll see Sony’s latest offerings and uh…Wait, they’re not here this year. Okay, moving on you can see what Microsoft has in store and oh wait they moved their operations to the Nokia theater across the road from us. The latest big name to kind of opt out of the E3 festivities? None other than Electronic Arts, who’ll also be ditching the big press conference idea in favour of something a little bit more…different. Instead of the single hour-long presentation that has become a running joke in E3 circles, EA will instead spend the week before E3 releasing smaller livestreams.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden has an unnecessarily long name, but it’s easily one of the games I’m most looking forward to this year. One of the biggest personal surprises for me at this year’s E3, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a delightfully absurd, brutally challenging third-person tactical, squad-based sneak-em-up shooter that deftly blends real-time third-person exploration and stealth with XCOM-esque turn-based shooting. It also features a talking duck with a bad attitude.
