131 episodes later and Dragon Ball Super is, to paraphrase Woken Matt Hardy, OVAAAAHHH. Dozens of episodes that revived the premier gateway drug into anime for many a western fan who didn’t have access to the SyFy channel back in the day for Neon Genesis Evangelion reruns, that didn’t just come back with a BIG BANG ATTACK, but also raised the bar for the limits of strength within that particular universe.
It was always going to come down to the wire in Dragon Ball Super, but not a single person could have predicted just how intense the fight between Ultra Instinct Goku and Jiren fight was truly going to be.
What began with Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue was just the beginning however. Dragon Ball Super has pushed the idea of power to new limits, introducing the concept of godly Ki and the unrelenting might wielded by the Gods of Destruction. Power that doesn’t hold a candle to Goku’s ultimate form, as the Saiyan is about to go even further beyond in the final battle against Jiren in the Universe Survival saga.
Some fighters still rise above even gods of destruction and Super Saiyan gods, as the esports scene of Dragon Ball FighterZ begins to heat up. The most popular character so far for online play? Unsurprisingly, Dragon Ball’s poster boy Goku is currently dominating in the top ten. Except it’s not that Goku who has entered the domain of gods.
As of now, the Dragon Ball FighterZ locker room is pretty solid. It’s a nice roster that Arc System Works has got there. Real nice. It’d be a shame if someone were to data-mine the PC files for the game and reveal that more characters are on the way though, wouldn’t it? A right shame guv’na. Oops! Someone just did that.

Can money buy you happiness? Until I can bottle a metaphysical sense of satisfaction, no it cannot. But it can buy you enough materialism to fill any void in your soul, provided that you have enough of the stuff. In Dragon Ball FighterZ, an ample surplus of the in-game currency of Zeni is something that you’re going to want to earn if you want to unlock some of the best bruisers in the roster, such as Super Saiyan Blue versions of Goku and Vegeta.
Essentially a brief retelling of iconic climaxes from the anime adaptation, Dramatic Finishes allow players to watch moments like this through the lens of the Unreal 4 Engine. There’s no actual major reward for achieving all of these finishes outside of a trophy or an achievement, but they’re still a neat touch for fans of the saga.
