It looks like a proper version of the first Borderlands is on the way to current-gen consoles, complete with all of the ludicrous DLC campaigns that made it so memorable back in 2009.

We explored the games that made racing feel alive, we delved into worlds with stunning art design and listened closely to those video games that managed to produce audio adventures. Which game is truly the best though? In 2018, there was no shortage of competitors, as the tail end of this console generation resulted in the cream truly rising to the top of a delicious brew of well designed games which captured our interest and our attention.

If you were looking for games that gave you glorious gung-ho action and plenty of weapons with which to deal out some old-fashioned justice, then 2018 was a great year for the shooter genre. From experiences that saw players take on well armed cults of personality to the far reaches of space, here’s a look at the best that the year had to offer for any action junkie who was looking for quality, fun and mayhem.

2B or not 2B? That is the question. A question which you’ll get to answer in the near future, as it looks like the entirity of Nier: Automata and all of its assorted DLC is getting bundled up into the standard game of the year package.

It almost feels like we say this every year, but 2017 really has been a phenomenal year for video games. We’ve seen Nintendo bounce back in a big way, giving us some of the year’s very best games. We’ve seen Sony push for new IP and single player experiences, and Microsoft well, they have a shiny new powerful box, and that’s okay too.
