A couple of weeks back, Platinum Games asked for a few bucks to bring cult classic Nintendo Wii U title The Wonderful 101 to new systems that missed out on the glorious superhero fun of the original game. With fan interest at an all-time high and the Kickstarter being a proof of passion, it looks like that remaster will be here sooner than you can say “WONDER RED!”.
Update: Now with a fresh trailer! Developer PlatinumGames recently got a bit of a cash injection through a partnership with Tencent. They’ve also successfully kick-started a remaster of their underappreciated gem, Wonderful 101. That game had too small an audience thanks to its exclusivity to Nintendo’s Wii U, but it’ll soon make its way to Switch, PC and PlayStation 4. …

Last week saw a proper remaster port of Vanquish slip through Microsoft’s fingers, but this week? It’s official. Here’s the kicker: Sam Gideon won’t be alone in his return to flatscreens, as a certain leggy witch will be joining him for the ride. Bayonetta will also be popping up, in a tag team of action that promises remastered visuals in 4K resolution at 60fps on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X.
Bayonetta is effectively two-thirds of an exclusive Nintendo franchise right now, thanks to the Big N stepping in at the 11th hour to rescue the franchise. There’s a story behind the creation and continuation of Bayonetta, one which Platinum Games big cheese Hideki Kamiya detailed in a series of fascinating tweets.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Scalebound was being cancelled. Its developers have now commented on the whole debacle.
Scalebound looks set to devolve me even further down the anti-social ladder. It looks massive, and deeper than the usual over-the-top Platinum title, such as Bayonetta. And in fact, it may very well be so, as the head honcho over at the studio has taken to hyping Scalebound by talking down about previous projects.
After being teased for years, Scalebound finally appeared in proper gameplay form at Gamescom this month. There’s still a lot about the game that needs to be revealed, but seeing it in action finally unveiled what Platinum and director Hideki Kamiya had been working on all this time. And it's going to push the Xbox One to the limit, like a cheesy 1980s workout song.
