Outriders has shaped up nicely over the years, and if its recent demo is any indicator of its final build, it’s a game that may not have much going for it in the originality department but it’s still a satisfying blast of polished action. One odd thing about its design though is just how reliant the game is on tiny cutscenes whenever you want to transition to a new area.

Launching a full month ahead of the actual game, there’s a decent chunk of content for players to test drive here.

People Can Fly, the studio responsible for the brilliant life and tragic death of Waggleton P. Tallylicker in Bulletstorm, has a new game out in April by the name of Outriders. It looks like a lengthy RPG grind that has one heck of a power fantasy attached to it and I am so down for that.

There’s a lot of good games coming out in 2021, and if you’ve been looking for a good old-fashioned loot ‘n shooter then People Can Fly’s Outriders is probably going to scratch that Dopamine itch for min-maxing numbers, moderately better weapons as you power up, and hordes of cannon fodder to test your new weapons out on.

Which is rare to say about any loot-based shooter in 2020 but honestly, Outriders looks like a great time if you’re down for another one of those kinds of games.

The latest class in Outriders is a heavy weapons specialist who can bring turrets, grenades and orbital bombardment to the battleffield.

Developer People Can Fly has been pretty on the ball with their deep dives into the world of Outriders over the last couple of months, with the previous broadcast detailing just how the world will adapt to your ability to be a far-future gun-toting messiah on an alien planet. Last night’s livestream had more details to share, casting its eye towards the world of Enoch and how it’ll have a ton of content for players to jump into, even though it isn’t an open-world game.

Massive danger, ruined civilisation and a path to power that requires you to get a handle on one of three post-human titans as you run ‘n gun your way to victory against increasingly tougher odds? Outriders sounds exactly like my cup of future-tea.
