Since its first Early Access release on PC, video game Battle Royale progenitor PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has had a performance problem. The game has been poorly optimised, resulting in a sub-par performance for many players.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is one of the few games with lootboxes in them that can actually be turned into a profit. It’s not official of course, but player-to-play trades can go through external third parties, which means that people can profit off of the sale of the items that can be obtained from the digital lucky packets. Not any more!

Just yesterday, we learned from reports that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 would skip the traditional single player campaign to focus on its multiplayer - including a Battle Royale mode. It looks like Battlefield V may do the same.

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (That’s PUBG if you’re well-adjusted, and PLUNKBAT if you’re a sociopath) may be taking a bit of a backseat to Fortnite in the general zeitgheist, but that doesn’t mean that it’s game over for the Battle Royale progenitor.

Inadvetently making the case against lootboxes stronger, PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds developer PUBG Corp argued that cosmeetic items affect gameplay.

What Fortnite took from the biggest battle royale game around (although not for long according to current trends), PUBG is repaying in kind with its own twist on the Event Mode formula.

According to SuperData, Fortnite isn’t just nipping away at the heels of its inspiration competition PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, it’s gobbling away at its playerbase entirely.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has a cheater problem. The game (primarily the PC version) is awash with cheaters, making the game suck for everyone who wants to play the Battle Royale survival game properly. In trying to fix this, they've started banning legitimate players by accident.
