The PlayStation 4 is now five years old and, if the rumours are correct, will soon be entering the twilight of its lice cycle. With Sony skipping gaming bonanza E3 entirely next year, it’s likely that we’ll see the next PlayStation in 2020. In the meantime Sony is celebrating the successes its had with the current console generation.

God of War is at its silliest in this Midgard Mishaps collection of blunders and glitches

God of War is a game that would not be so finely polished were it not for the countless hours that Sony’s Santa Monica studio put into the project, burning the midnight oil and tinkering with every aspect of the design of the big return of the OG battle deity. Don’t forget those people in QA either, men and women who perform a thankless task in an industry that views them as disposable assets when a job is done. Especially when their hard work prevented the following glitches from mostly making its way into the final product.

For a while now, some mobile phones have been subject to message bugs that can wreak havoc. Malicious users can send text messages that include unrecognised symbols, often leading to memory overflows, crashes and unstable behaviour. This weekend, reports emerged that a similar bug has affected PlayStation 4 consoles on the PlayStation Network. Sony’s remained suspiciously quiet about this, but have however, fixed the messaging system to prevent the dodgy characters.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta is now over, and the general consensus among those who played it is that it’s a highly enjoyable, polished Battle Royale that’s fast, smooth and slick. It’s not without its problems though, with most complaints pointing at the game’s armour system and weapon pickups. That, of course, is what betas are for (besides being marketing opportunities, of course). Treyarch has taken the feedback from the beta and will be making several changes to the mode before the game’s release next month.
