Sony has patented a potential PlayStation 5 controller with a built-in touch screen

I am not enamoured with the DualShock 4. It’s a decent enough controller, and it’s far better than the controller included with the PlayStation 3, but it could still use some tweaking. One of the most innovative, but severely underused aspects of the current PlayStation controller though is the front touchpad. In the early days of the system, it was …

The latest revision of the PlayStation 4 Pro doesn’t sound like a jet engine

While not as powerful as the mighty Xbox One X (or a decent mid-tier PC these days), the PlayStation Pro is still a lovely machine that’s capable of pumping out some pretty impressive graphics. The other thing it pumps out? Lots of hot air, and a heck of a lot of noise thanks to a thermal design that relies a little too much on very loud fans.

If Sony wants the PlayStation Classic to be a winner, they’re going to need to reload the device with better games, titles that speak to the 1990s gaming nerd inside of all of us. We've got a few ideas on that topic.

Very few additional gameplay ideas can serve Tetris well enough to enhance it for fans, but giving it a new visual and audio touch? Well, now we’re on to something. Or at the very least, it’s something that developer Enhance Games has figured out for Tetris Effect.

If a mini-console powered by nostalgia could work for Nintendo, then that’s an idea which could certainly work wonders for Sony and the PlayStation brand. The PlayStation Classic is that very idea, realised and given a Sony slap of paint, although of the 20 games that were announced for the system, only five of them were revealed a few months ago. That all changes today, as the holiday season draws closer and Sony looks to generate some buzz on the console and all of the goodies included. And boy oh boy, are there some absolute classic games bundled in with this device.

The New Game Plus mode in Marvel’s Spider-Man isn’t out today after all

Marvel’s Spider-Man is a lovely game. While I didn’t especially like some of the open-world fluff in the webhead’s adventures, or some of that forced stealth nonsense, the game more than ably told its story – while also being a delight to play. Swinging around Insomniac’s condensed, idealised version of Manhattan was an absolute delight – leading many to want to do it all again, even though they’ve played the game to completion, with the Platinum trophy to show for it. The impending New Game Plus would be perfect for that – but unfortunately it’s been slightly delayed.
