After telling a gritty tale of crime in Max Payne, venturing into the supernatural in Alan Wake, and turning up the weirdness dial to 11 in Control, Remedy Entertainment has a new game in development that’s unlike anything else that the studio has ever done before. Primarily because this next chapter from one of the oldest gaming houses is going to be free to play.

Alan Wake makes his official debut in Control in full force, delivering a very large helping of lore and storytelling that goes down great with the overall game experience. If only he had a brought a small side of new gameplay mechanics as well, because the formula remains pretty much the same.

If you pick up Control Ultimate Edition, you’ll get the base game, The Foundation DLC and its upcoming slice of Alan Wake-centric content in the form of All Elite Wrestling AWE. That upcoming DLC drop will expand on the idea of all of Remedy’s games existing in a shared universe, which gives me hope that we’ll finally see a big budget version of My Lords and Ladies.

Remedy has revealed that two games are currently in development: One is a balls to the wall AAA project, whilst the other is a sister project on a smaller scale that’ll accompany it.

Control is one of my favourite games from last year. Remedy’s twisty, brain-melting SCP-inspired action game was an absolute blast, and I honestly can’t wait for more from the universe established in the game. Here’s what I said in my review:

This week, Xboss Phil Spencer appeared on an Extra Life charity stream and just happened to mention that Remedy’s latest game, Control, would soon be on Game Pass. He suggested that the game was great, but that it didn’t “didn’t reach enough people,” and that it being on Game Pass would rectify that. It caused many to celebrate. Control is indeed a lovely game, and it deserves to have more people play it.
