Despite kicking off to a relatively enjoyable start, Michael Bay's Transformers film franchise soon devolved into a cacophonous excess of explosions and bad toilet humour. But with a new creative visionary at the helm in the form of Travis Knight, it's time for this franchise to do what Transformers do best: Change.

Bumblebee is shaping up to be the best Transformer movie yet. Ans his idea for a sequel would probably be even better.

If you're a fan of the classic Transformers cartoons and got really tired of the increasingly noisy and incoherent Transformers movies stuff full of grating human characters and not much else, well then it would seem that the Bumblebee movie is here to transform your opinion of this franchise.

Make no mistake, we live in tough times. We live in an age where everyone has something to say about everything, and that conversation usually takes a turn towards the negative. The Toys That Made Us is a reminder to hold onto the joy that our toys gave us, to cherish the nostalgia and to pass that passion on to the next generation, even if that plastic legacy has a few design flaws in its long and storied history.

The Transformers franchise has not exactly been a shining light when it comes to story and heart. A new letter from director Travis Knight though gives hope that Bumblebee will finally change all of that.

With the Bumblebee film out in December, Hasbro’s latest range of licensed figures now includes a new Nitro series. Aimed at ages six and up, these figures are the halfway point between accuracy and ease of use. The titular Autobot scout takes the lead here, and first impressions are fantastic. Not only is Bumblebee rocking an authentic Beetle chassis that has been given Volkswagen’s blessing, but his robot mode looks superb as well.
