With our impending descent into a real-life Skynet inevitable, or future robot overlords could resemble Transformers more than the Terminators of Skynet in the near future.

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

After the terrible (fully justified) reception of Transformers: The Last Knight, original toy manufacturer Hasbro may be looking to do something drastic with their giant robot movie franchise

Companies normally make massive amounts of money from making toys based off popular movie franchises. Paramount has been doing it the other way round with their Hasbro films and wants more of that same success.

If you had any hopes that the Bumblebee spin-off would revive any interest in the Transformers franchise, it's probably a good idea to forget about them now as the spin-off is set to somehow include Optimus Prime in the mix.

Modern day Transformers toys aren't exactly easy to shift between robot and vehicle modes if you're a kid. Hasbro has a solution to that, a Transformers toy which can apparently be altered between forms in a mere four moves. Even an idiot could do it. Here, hold my beer.

Sony's next big franchise is going to involve robots and aliens. It does appear though that the studio is eyeing a very different director to ensure its comparisons with Transformers stop there.

The San Diego Comic Con is about more than just movies. It’s about cosplay, comics and most important of all: Exclusive toys. Plenty of retailers will have a few wares on offer, that’ll only be sold at the SDCC before said buyers charge ludicrous sums for them on eBay. I think Hasbro might have the best exclusive of the lot.
