Destiny 2 has always been a game that you could set your clock to, but some big changes are on the way to Bungie’s sandbox. The first notable one? Annual expansions are no longer a thing, as Bungie is changing up the cadence for when those game-changing upgrades are released. This means that Destiny 2’s next expansion, The Witch Queen, will no longer arrive in 2021 and is now scheduled for release in “the early half of 2022.”

This season of Destiny 2 has also added a new weapon to Trials that players are currently lusting over: The Messenger. So how do you get one in Trials beyond being just damn good at PVP? By throwing yourself off the nearest cliff.

Like any RPG starring nigh-unkillable zombie super-soldiers who protect a giant golf ball in the sky, Destiny 2 is all about power and the grind to increase your status in a hostile universe. Now that Beyond Light has kicked off and I’ve spent actual cash on its Season of the Hunt golden ticket so that I can unlock some bitchin’ gear, I’ve got a daily routine of grabbing bounties, heading to my favourite lost sectors and mowing down enemies in pursuit of that locked loot.

Next week is going to be a big one for Destiny 2. Now that the excellent Beyond Light expansion has launched, the game is getting a next-gen console makeover that’ll throw 4K visuals running at 60fps at your peepers on PS5 and Xbox Series X. PC players, don’t even start yes we all know how special and unique you are for having that graphical leap available ages ago. Here, have a biscuit.

Like most things in Destiny, there was a story attached to Osiris. Lore detailing a wizard from the Last City who found himself exiled to Mercury and harboured a heck of a grudge to the Speaker. A story which could finally be expanded on in Destiny 2’s first expansion. That’s according to Kotaku’s sources, who say that the DLC will ship three months after Destiny 2 arrives on September 6.

Bungie has announced that the crucible of crucibles will be back for a brand new week of Iron Banner action from October 4.

The greatest challenge of Destiny, the Trials of Osiris,are talking a short hiatus in time for Rise of Iron.
