I’ve been excited for Dontnod’s Vampyr for some time. The prospect of a vampiric RPG where decisions matter tickles me right in the jugular. When recent previews suggested the game was half-baked, I was a little disheartened. Given the developers previous games – the middling Remember Me and the lovely Life is Strange – it was hard to gauge how good – or bad – Vampyr might end up. After reading a few reviews – I’m still not entirely sure. Opinion on the game is varied.

Vampyr is trying its best to make its killing feel like a moral decision. But one side definitely looks like a whole lot more fun.

Developer DontNod's previous games weren't system killers when they released on PC. You can expect the same then with their upcoming Vampyr game, which won’t suck too much juice out of your rig.

Vampyr looked like top-notch stuff from the studio that brought us the criminally underrated Remember Me. Only problem? Vampyr needed to spend some more time in the development coffin. DONTNOD’s nocturnal adventure finally has a release date though: June 5.

Bandai Namco has found its necks game. Giggle. Called Code Vein, the Japanese publisher got the ball rolling on the project with a short teaser and a few more details in Famitsu magazine this week. Promising vampiric action minus the bare-chested shininess, Code Vein drops players into a world devastated by monsters and disease as humanity has but one last stronghold to eke out an existence in.

Vampires are still kind of cool. They’re history’s greatest supernatural public domain asset, characters who have popped up in numerous media while Bram Stoker’s estate really wishes that the old bastard had done a copyright on his Dracula story. Bandai Namco wants a piece of that. After some teasing last week with copious amounts of blood and a Dark Souls-styled slogan of “Prepare to dine”, the publisher finally revealed their next project: Code Vein.
