An evolving world and cataclysms are just some of the new content coming to Anthem after launch

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Anthem looks like a great 20-hour game, but it has an uphill battle on its hands if it wants to convince me to spend more time than that within its world. With the amount of hype, resources and development invested within Anthem, Bioware and EA need to make certain that this Big Mech with Cheese combo special is satisfying enough to keep players around not just for days, but months.

Devil May Cry just made a massive change to its timeline

By Darryn Bonthuys

There’s a great story to be told across the Devil May Cry games, but the actual timeline doesn’t match up very coherently between games. One of the biggest plot holes in the chronology? The abysmal Devil May Cry 2, which kind of doesn’t make sense in the big picture of the franchise.

In the month of love, Xbox Game Pass is about to get even better. While Crackdown 3 is the biggest release of the month for Xbox Game Pass, it’s not the only high-profile game arriving. The second and fourth-best Batman games respectively, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Akrham City, are also on the way, with Square Enix’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider rounding out the new releases.

It’s not often that we get to go into a game without any real knowledge of what to actually expect, but here we are! Apex Legends arrived out of nowhere, and the initial results have been more than just promising: They’ve been bloody brilliant. On the surface, Apex Legends ticks all the right battle royale boxes. It has a map that shrinks every few minutes, plenty of weapons to pick up and it handles beautifully.

Here’s a look at Kabal in action in Mortal Kombat 11

By Darryn Bonthuys

With time fractured, Kabal’s appearance in Mortal Kombat saw him eventually defeated and killed by Sindel, resurrected as a revenant by Quan Chi and forced to do the bidding of the nefarious sorcerer. He may have been out of action as a playable character in Mortal Kombat X, but you can’t keep a good speedster down as the quickest feet in EarthRealm is racing back into the ring for Mortal Kombat 11. Here’s what Kabal brings to the table.

Crackdown 3 is a Terry Crews simulator

By Darryn Bonthuys

It has been a long and arduous road to Crackdown 3, one that began with an announcement at E3 2014 and saw numerous delays along the way. Honestly, I’m still amped for the title. It doesn’t need to be the best-looking game on the block, merely a satisfying power trip that gives you a sandbox to play in and plenty of explosions to hurl at anyone who gets in your way. Plus, having the 99’s Sergeant Terry Jeffords as the hero of the single-player campaign, makes for a pretty enticing product.

Guilds will arrive after launch in Anthem, but Alliances will still offer plenty of rewards

Love it or hate it, but Anthems bullet sponges are best tackled when with a gang of Freelancers as opposed to lone wolfing it. There’s nothing to stop you from turning off matchmaking and doing a solo hotdog run, but here’s the kicker: Stick to a squad and you won’t just have the satisfaction of digital socialising, you’ll also find some better incentives along the way.

Rumour – The original Borderlands is coming to PS4 and Xbox One

It looks like a proper version of the first Borderlands is on the way to current-gen consoles, complete with all of the ludicrous DLC campaigns that made it so memorable back in 2009.
