Uwe Boll makes something new

By Gavin Mannion

On the good side it appears that Uwe might have finally realised that he can’t make movies… but on the bad side it seems that he is now going to try and make games. Here is a trailer of Uwe Boll’s new game, Tunnel Rats. It looks pretty awful to me but I may be blinded by my dislike of …

Yeah it doesn’t directly apply to SA as we didn’t get the latest round of price cuts but the English retailers are all currently rubbing their hands with glee. After the latest Xbox 360 price cut they are all unanimously agreeing that it is now priced perfectly and they are expecting a huge surge in sales in the lead up …

As most of you know, Activision have already announced that they are looking to triple the amount of Guitar Hero titles by 2010. Life with Playstation Now Available

By BrettC

Yesterday some people managed to get hold of Life with Playstation. I sat down and tried for over an hour to get Folding Home to update to Life with Playstation but had no luck. It was later revealed by Sony that it was a mistake and that it shouldn’t have gone up. I wondered if that meant that the official launch of Life with Playstation was just around the corner. Well a day later, it is here and it has been released simultaneously worldwide. For those of you who aren’t familiar with "Life with Playstation", it is a new lifestyle service that gives PS3 owners a new way to access news and information from around the world. The update comes in at 126mb and is slightly slow because everybody is currently downloading it simultaneously. I have sat and played around with it and I must say that it is looking brilliant. News has never fascinated me like this before. The visuals and sounds are amazing and I like that you can play music while browsing the news of the world. It is very quick and smooth and I had no issues with the long load times. Life with Playstation has really turned out well and Sony definitely deserves congratulations on this one.

Guitar Hero Outsells Rock Band by 6:1

By BrettC

It's no secret that Rock Band and Guitar Hero, which are two powerful music franchises, are still in a war for market supremacy and will do whatever they can to prove that their product is better than the oppositions'. That is why Activision has triumphantly announced that Guitar Hero is outselling Rock Band by 6 to 1. The reason apparently being that they have access to 30% of the world’s music through Universal and that they have 2000 people working on Guitar Hero titles. That compared to the couple hundred people that work on Rock Band. Both are very valid reasons, but what about the fact that Australia and South Africa have yet to get Rock Band 1 on their shores even though Rock Band 2 has already been released. It wouldn’t change the figures drastically but it would give a better representation of exactly how well Guitar Hero franchise compares to Rock Band. It is still a very impressive statistic to have on your side and I don’t blame them for showing off.

Resistance 2 Splicer Video

Every now and then a weapon comes along that makes the game it’s in that little bit better. The Lancer (Chainsaw Gun) in Gears of War is the obvious example. Admittedly, Resistance didn’t need a gun like this as it was already a brilliant game and is by far my favourite FPS on the PS3. Now Resistance has the Splicer, …

"Every Gun Has a Story" is a new web documentary from Epic Games which has the developers explaining all the different hardware that we will all be using to bring the "pwnage" when Gears 2 hits shelves in November. Further in, the developers discuss and show off the new executions as well as the all important developments on the gore factor. If you are even only mildly interested in Gears of War 2, don't miss this video. I do warn you though, it is likely to get you very excited.
