The major focus from Activision’s earning’s call yesterday is, rightfully, bound to be on the on the massive layoffs across the company. Eight hundred people are now without jobs, despite the company seeing record growth, with revenues up 6 per cent year-on-year and new executives having sizeable signing bonuses. According to Activision COO Coddy Johnson, last year’s Call of Duty, Black Ops 4, did exceptionally well in its launch period, but failed to maintain that momentum in the second half of the quarter.

Activision Blizzard begins laying off hundreds of employees

It’s a rumour no longer, as Activision Blizzard has officially begun laying off workers. In an earnings call held yesterday, Activision Blizzard announced that 8% of its workforce would be facing termination, a number that works out to around nearly 800 jobs being lost from an initial employment capacity of 9600 from across Activision, Blizzard and King.

Bungie ends their partnership with Activision, keeps the rights to Destiny

Gaming’s power couple is officially over. In a new blog post, Destiny developer Bungie revealed today that it has begun to part ways with publisher Activision, ending a partnership that began in 2010 and saw the release of Destiny, its first sequel and numerous expansions. “We have enjoyed a successful eight-year run and would like to thank Activision for their partnership on Destiny,” Bungie wrote on their site.
