I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Few games could match the mania for guns that Destiny had. Dodgy story issues and inconsistent updates aside, Destiny’s guns were in a class of their own.

Destiny 2 was influenced by Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and its outstanding Mile High Club mission, says Bungie designer Rob Engeln in the latest podcast from the developer. “The big inspiration for me was actually watching a bunch of videos of people speedrunning Mile High Club from Modern Warfare on Veteran difficulty."

While the tweaking and balancing of Doomfist on the Overwatch PTR will most likely still take some time, more details are filtering in. The important cosmetic details that is, as the current incarnation of the fist machine now has numerous sprays and tags that you can take a gander at.

While Destiny’s later expansions would flesh the world out, players were still hungry for a more cohesive tale. They didn’t want a wishy-washy saga of fighting an undefined enemy while an ally spouted off the worst one-liners possible (I don’t have time to tell you I don’t have time uuuuuurggghhhh who wrote that). If that was one of your major requests for Destiny 2, then good news: You’ll be getting all that and more. “

With customisation being a key influencer in games of this ilk and Destiny 2 continuing the trend of the Guardian you’ve built being playable in the arenas, I see the mode gaining a following when Destiny 2 launches on PC. Plus, that gunplay. It’s the best. All of this needs to be tied together by some solid map design however. Maps which make the best of all-out warfare, choke points and escape routes through Destiny 2’s various modes.
