Here’s the first part in an upcoming series that I’m working on, that highlights the absurd, the wonderful and the thought-provoking best moments ever committed to a flatscreen. In no particular order of course.

Batman was built for anime, and after almost a decade it looks like Warner Bros. Animation has finally realised this truth again. A New York Comic Con listing via Polygon has revealed that DC and Warner Bros. will announce a new Batman anime, that gives the dark knight a new direction that’s totally ninja.

It’s kind of weird that in an industry fuelled by remakes and sequels, that a new Arkham game isn’t in the works, right? What’s Warner Bros. Interactive doing with the series? Apparently nothing, according to Batman’s voice, Kevin Conroy.

What lies ahead for DC Comics? Here’s a round-up of the biggest titles on the way (Minus Dark Nights: Metal but more on that later), which will clue you in on what 2017 still has in store for the DC Universe.

Dark Nights Metal has kicked off, and the caped crusader is going to have his hands full soon. There’s the Flash-Batman known as the Red Death and there’s a Cyborg Batman who goes by the name of the Murder Machine. The most dangerous dark knight of the lot? The Batman Who Laughs, a Joker in a cowl who blends the frenemies together into one twisted amalgamation.

Here’s some good news for anyone who found themselves wanting to make good on that damaged tattoo on Leto’s method-acting head: The Joker is getting an origin movie that’ll star someone else donning a bucket of a white greasepaint and throwing some green into their hair. That’s the rumour according to Deadline, who say that an origin film starring the harlequin of hate is now in “the early stages” of planning over at Warner Bros.

Over the years, plenty of Batmobiles have been drawn, rendered and animated. Batman: White Knight may just have the best version out of all of them. Speaking to Nerdist, writer and artist Sean Murphy detailed his take on the Dark Knight’s latest vehicle.

If episode one is a fantastic example of how Telltale understands the psychology of the Bruce Wayne and still manages to pack in a few ideas that give fresh new spins on classic tropes such as Batman outwitting his way out of a death trap, then I’m already sold on what the rest of season 2 has in store for Gotham City.
