We’re essentially getting several months of gaming reveals, spaced out in a fashion that feels more like a marathon than a sprint for clicks in recent years. Ubisoft has a showcase coming up in July, Xbox is rolling out monthly livestreams and Sony is…uh…going to do something eventually I guess. People Can Fly’s next game finally gives the most primal element a chance to shine in Outriders with a class-type dedicated towards setting all the things on fire. Called the Pyromancer, this class sets itself apart from the Devastator and Trickster by not only unleashing blisteringly hot flames but can also manipulate that element to set up barriers and traps.

There’s a new generation of video games on the way, and one of the first such titles looking to bring the idea of enemy heads erupting in a geyser of maths all so that you can score some sweet loot, is Outriders. People Can Fly is the Polish studio behind Painkiller (remember that? Impaling baddies with stakes was a blast!) and the sweary, skilly-killy Bulletstorm. At last year’s E3 they teased their new game Outriders, but now they’ve shown off more of the game through a more extended trailer.

If you were looking for nothing but JRPGs in the wee hours of the morning, then Square Enix did not disappoint. The penultimate show before Nintendo closes off the press conference later tonight, Square Enix’s intimate event may have been focused on one single genre for most of its running time but it also had a few surprises up its sleeve.

Oh Square Enix, you delightful tease. Over the last couple of days, the publisher has been hinting at something new being on the horizon. And by hinting, I mean that they’ve been posting cryptic messages which happen to be formatted as travel logs from one Captain Archan. So far, the messages have been painting a story of Earth being ravaged, one last hope surviving amongst the stars and a lethal militia that’s out to get ol’ Archan.
