While the E3 of today is a tightly-tuned beast of rehearsals and scripted moments, the E3s of the past were a bit more dynamic. That led to more than a few scenarios that were cringe-worthy to say the least. Events that went off script, crashed and burned. We’re a big fan of those awkward moments, so here’s a look back at E3’s best and worst blunders.

After the PlayStation 3 had a sparse selection of platform-specific games under its belt, allowing Microsoft to surge ahead on the Xbox 360, Sony regained its momentum and started pumping money back into the studios contracted to it. Not every game was a winner, but when you’re batting more hits than misses then you know you’re on the right track. Which is the entire purpose of the latest PlayStation sale for its PS4, PS3 and PS Vita consoles, which casts a light on the games that you’ll only find on a Sony storefront.

PlayStation fans have been wanting something a bit more concrete in terms of backwards compatibility, and while PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan has acknowledged those calls for the system to start offering some proper legacy support for games, he reckons that even if they came up with a solution it wouldn’t be used all that often.

There may be some hope on the horizon for beleaguered PC gamers then, as some digging on NeoGAF yesterday in the recently released PC port and update of Bayonetta saw an image crop up in the game folder. An image that looked a lot like Vanquish protagonist Samuel Gideon in his trademark sliding DARPA armour.
