Last week, we told you that it looked like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was headed to the PlayStation 4 next month. Thanks to content ID for the game showing up buried on Sony’s public-facing site, it was pretty much a certainty that we’d be seeing the more realistic Battle Royale game make the jump to PlayStation. Now it’s official.

Microsoft may be on to something with their Game Pass service, an all you can play buffet service of games that are constantly being added and rotated out. It’s a cheap as chips subscription, it’s home to smaller games and it has day one access to first-party Xbox One games to boot. That’s not too shabby, and like most services of its ilk, it lives and dies on its content. Said content is getting a few heavy-hitters soon, as Microsoft announced sixteen new entries to the Game Pass library.

Right now, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the second most popular standalone Battle Royale game in the world, is a console exclusive. If you’re a console player, you’ll only find the game on Microsoft’s Xbox One family of systems. That’s probably changing.

Marvel’s Spider-Man to Dragon Quest 11, Green Day’s ballad of a month-long slumber proved to be entirely incorrect as gamers worldwide stayed awake and burnt the midnight oil so that they could enjoy some new releases. Big games, big names and even bigger financial results defined the month. The biggest surprise though? That Destiny 2 was the most profitable game of the lot.

While PUBG and Fortnite may have cemented Batlle Royale as a mainstream genre, plenty of other challengers have stepped up to the plate to give the genre some new blood. One game that might be a perfect fit? Easily Id Software’s Quake Champions, whose signature take on quick action and gory results would provide a breath of fresh air in the genre. If Id Software were interested, that is.

Just this week, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds became the first game in the history of Steam’s existence to have over a million concurrent players every single day for an entire year. It’s a phenomenal achievement, and the sort recurring engagement that most games could only ever dream of. And just like that, the streak is over.

I haven’t logged into PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One in a long time. The Xbox One version has lagged behind the PC version for ages. Not just in features, but also in how it looks and plays. It now lags behind the PC version just a little less
