Rainbow Six Siege is a fantastic competitive multiplayer game, that’s only become better with time. I haven’t played it in ages, but when I was playing it, it delivered some of the most exhilarating and tense multiplayer matches I’ve had. Like other competitive multiplayer games, some of its most vociferous players can make it horrible to play, spurting out racist and sexist vitriol. Those players are now getting insta-banned.

If there’s any single mega games publisher and developer who’s been able to stretch the longevity of its retail, non-subscription games beyond the usual lifecycle, it’s Ubisoft. Sure, Rockstar’s kept GTA V going far longer than any single game should, but there are many Ubisoft games that still draw in millions of players – and it’s all because the company continues to supports its games.

Ubisoft has been looking for a way to curb that toxic behaviour, and in a new blog post it looks like the developer and publisher may have evolved a system that it has been testing since last month.

Rainbow Six Siege is having a chuffing good week thanks to its latest expansion event, Outbreak. A horde mode of grotesque zombies that pile wave after wave of mutilated monstrosities on you and your team, Outbreak is exactly the kind of mad content that is keeping Rainbow Six Siege alive and popular.

Ubisoft has had it up to here with abusive and toxic behaviour on Rainbow Six Siege, and they're not going to take that behaviour somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep.

In the last two years Rainbow Six Siege has evolved into a beastly shooter of note. It’s Ubisoft’s vision for the future at its finest. A rock-solid title supported not only by an engaged community but also by a developer that wants to keep the dream alive. A dream that’ll last a decade by the sound of things.

Thanks to local Azure implementation, Rainbow six Siege is getting local servers. It means many more games are likely to get them too.
