What began with a competent stab at hunting monsters, evolved into a saga that created the finest trilogy ever conceived. CD Projekt RED’s groundbreaking franchise may have wrapped up its tale, but don’t count the franchise out just yet.

The Witcher series might have already been picked up by Netflix, but Geralt and his monster slaying ways are still many months off from materialisng.

Geralt of Rivia joins the SoulCalibur VI fight, his legend being added to a series that included other video game stalwarts such as Darth Vader, Tekken’s Heihachi Mishima and Assassin’s Creed’s Ezio Auditore from previous games. So how does he play then? Surgically.

As you probably know by now, The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia is going to be a playable character in Bandai Namco’s upcoming weapons-based fighter Soulcalibur 6. Does that sort of crossover marketing work?

No stranger to plucking a video game character out of thin air and placing them in their universe, Soulcalibur games have seen everyone from Assassin’s Creed’s Ezio Auditore to Darth Vader himself appear for a few quick rounds of sword-based fisticuffs. It sounds highly likely then, that a certain Witcher is going to make the cut.

Netflix's The Witcher series writer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich gives a progress update on the script for the much-anticipated series. She also revealed a bunch of thumbnail character descriptions for the main characters included in the first season.

CD Projekt Red’s next big game however, will see the studio become more than just the house that The Witcher built as Cyberpunk 2077 builds on the themes of a dystopian future imagine decades ago for an interactive experience that CD Projekt Red calls a “true RPG”.

Geralt’s story in the Witcher games may have ended, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road for Geralt of Rivia. It looks like Netflix is bringing the Butcher of Blaviken’s tale to smaller screens.
