Causality usually takes a backseat to the action that unfolds in Tomb Raider, with Lara usually leaving a tomb in ruins and the people around her being none the wiser. That’s changing in Shadow of the Tomb Raider however, as developers Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics want the final chapter in Lara’s origin story to be a tale of consequences that impacts on the people closest to her.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider isn’t hesitating to give itself an extra graphical push, at least according to Eidos Montreal studio boss David Anfossi who reckons that the machine is more than capable of running the latest Croftastrophe caper at 4K and 60FPS.
2013’s Tomb Raider and its definitive edition were exceptionally pretty games with magnificent visual design. Rise of the Tomb Raider? Even moreso, thanks to the lessons learned on porting the previous game over to current-gen consoles. It stands to reason then, that Shadow of the Tomb Raider should be the prettiest game of the lot.
