Eden’s Gate may not be filled to the brim with crazy peggies like it was before the bombs fell, but Joseph Seed’s followers still revere and worship the man that they called “the Father”. Only problem? The Highwaymen don’t have that same level of adoration for the missing prophet. Some of Eden’s Gate most hopeful acolytes have set up a church that ran afoul of Far Cry New Dawn’s lethal antagonists, and the holy camp site is now filled with believers who happen to be extra holey. Because they’ve all been murdered, get it? HAW!

Okay, there’s an old prepper stash, a locked door and a bunch of flame throwers pointed at you. There’s also a bunch of those weird singing river bass fish lined up on the walls, and clearly they have something to do with the puzzle, right? Right!

Somebody was prepared for the end of the world. Somebody wanted to make certain that their best gear was safe and hidden way behind a series of challenges that would require precision marksmanship to gain access to. And it looks like somebody else will need eagle eyes to help them get through this challenge! Fortunately, you happen to fit the bill and with bullets not in short supply, this challenge is as easy as they come.

So there’s this Highwaymen outpost out in the middle of nowhere. Lightly guarded, dressed in gaudy pink and housing some good loot. Want it? Well you’re only a few bullets away from obtaining it. With the goons taken care of, run to the back of the garage and locate the broken windmill.

Wolverines! Not just the rallying call of a band of renegades in Red Dawn, but also the name of a very tenacious species of homicidal bastard badger that has the hair trigger temper usually reserved for people who get offended by woke shaving razor commercials. There’s an old Seed church that happens to be infested with wolverines and loot, so you know what to do: Bust in, get the goods and scram in a blaze of glory.

It’s that time of the year where the great big Triple-A publishers release their financials for the quarter, talking about how much money they made in one breath, while firing close to ten percent of their workforce with the next. It’s Ubisoft’s turn at bat with an earnings report, but I’m happy to say that while the company has also had an increase in earnings, it hasn’t sent anybody to the unemployment line.

It may not really do anything especially new, but ar Cry: New Dawn is an experience that encapsulates everything great about the franchise. It’s instantly familiar to anyone who has played any of Ubisoft’s shooters over the last couple of years, but it’s a confident approach that works well as a colourful diversion at the end of the world.
