A fiery new trailer and poster for X-Men: Dark Phoenix has been revealed, giving us a new look at what may be Fox's last mutant movie.

With Disney reportedly finalizing the takeover of Fox's movie/TV assets as early as next month, Fox is seemingly scuppering all its lingering comic book movie productions.

From his turn as a juror in the Trial of the Incredible Hulk to that of an intergalactic butcher of Thor Odinsson’s glorious golden locks, Stan Lee’s cameos became not just the best Easter egg in Hollywood, but a treasured standard for the industry. With his death this week, its the end of an era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the godfather of their source material will no longer be around o provide a smile and a chuckle. Well, not immediately anyway.

When the first trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix dropped two weeks back, I’m sure I wasn’t the only person who immediately felt like we were just looking at X3: The Last Stand 2.0. However, writer/director Simon Kinberg, who penned the earlier film, wanted to stress that this was not the case and that Dark Phoenix has even found some unexpected cosmic inspiration.

Fox seems to have a mountain of uncertainty when it comes to their X-Men properties as Dark Phoenix director addresses some of the reasons for the delays and reshoots of their upcoming movies.

Well, that didn't last long. Just as X-Men: Dark Phoenix finally started to pick up some steam thanks to its first trailer finally being unveiled after the superhero blockbuster saw a string of bad rumours and a previous date change, the film has once again been delayed. Fox revealed the news this Friday past, just two days after that trailer dropped, which is a little awkward, to say the least.

After what felt like ages of nothing but rumours and controversial delays, we finally got the trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix yesterday and... that was it? Fans left underwhelmed by this preview may take faith though that we probably just saw a tiny fraction of what this movie has to offer as writer/director Simon Kinberg reveals the many cosmic aspects the film will be introducing.
