One of the best parts from Man Of Steel for me was the opening 15 minutes or so that revolved around Superman’s home planet, Krypton. It was the first time that there was this much detailed focus on the planet, showing us how life was for the Kryptonians, and giving us a detailed look at the technologies and creatures that …
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It’s a silly little title that most people can’t even say without smirking. The first teaser trailer for this adaptation of another Seth Grahame-Smith’s mashup historical parody novels, certainly seemed to realize this silliness with a very tongue-in-cheek tone that looked like a whole heap of fun. Certainly a lot more fun than Abraham Lincoln: Vampire …
One thing I have enjoyed about Marvel’s movies is the fact that they don’t take themselves too seriously. They are fun. There is laughter, and silliness. Sure, Captain America: Winter Soldier lent more towards a serious action/thriller and Daredevil is definitely not light but none of those come close to the content and subject matter of The Man in the High Castle. The pilot episode …
The last time time Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg teamed up it was for the hilarious The Other Guys. But while that movie saw them as partners working together, the latest collaboration, Daddy’s Home, has them going to proverbial war with each other as a stepdad and dad trying to win the affection of their children. Cue jokes about who has …
This week, we get an early start on Halloween with Not Another Paranormal Activity Movie, Bradley Cooper’s career takes a bit of a scary nosedive, old Disney classics come back to haunt us, and two local movies have nothing to do with Halloween but they still look pretty good. Plus we have a highly-praised coming-of-age drama and a properly awful …
Since his inception in 1939, Batman has greatly transcended being just a comic book character and has become a veritable cultural icon. That “culture” of course includes several movie appearances, so it was very fitting that earlier in this week Batman co-creator Bob Kane was posthumously honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Director Zack Snyder, who …
Today marks exactly 5 weeks until we get to see Spectre on our screens in South Africa. Unfortunately, this makes us the 2nd last country in the world to actually witness James Bond’s latest adventure (Japan is in dead last, so take this as some sort of pyrrhic victory/revenge for what happened in the Rugby World Cup). But over in …
Bruce Willis has spent the last few years firmly stuck in “Pay the Bills” mode, saying yes to just about every script put in front of him, no matter how terrible it sounds or how pedestrian he acts. This is why we have such laughable entries in his filmography such as Vice and The Prince. But there’s nothing to laugh …
A spooky European village. Properly scary castle mania. Vampires. Werewolves! The only thing more frightening, is a glimpse at your empty bank account when it comes to deciding whether or not you can grab Resident Evil Village this month. Capcom's successor to its long-running survival-horror franchise is finally out, and if you've read our review then you know the game is a winner on multiple levels.
