The Wii may still be outselling the other consoles every month but one department it’s never had the upper hand in is online gaming. There is no good argument for why friend codes were a good idea at all… lets just be honest here. Exchanging 12 digit codes in order to play with people is no where near the ease …

Just a quick update, the NXE is officially up and runnning. I turned on the console at around 12:10 and it was downloaded and installed by around 12:20 (on a 4mb line) so the whole process was fairly quicker than I initially thought it was going to be, although I can see download times increasing when a lot of people get home. Creating the Avatar was pretty simple and the length you take all depends on how fussy you are going to be with your settings. I have just installed Gears of War 2 to my HDD and it looks like the install took around about 10 minutes or so. So there you have it, it's up and you can get it as soon as you get home. If you have any questions you can pop them into the comments and I will try and answer them for you.

While a lot of us are still hurting from the sting of not receiving the map pack codes in South Africa, a few images have popped up on Flickr that show someone playing Gears of War 2 on a never-before-seen multiplayer map. The new map looks to be some sort of take on the whole sunken-city idea and could be one of many that are already in the works as DLC. Once again, there is no way to tell if us South Africans will even have any access to them, so maybe we shouldn't get our hopes up. Pics after the jump. Anyone who was on the site yesterday will know that a personal PS3 rant from Gareth landed up causing quite an explosion within the PS3 community, from our own comments section to local forums. We did not anticipate the response but found it interesting to say the least and had some people questioning if we would ever do one for the Xbox 360 as well.... One of our readers redirected us to a thread about our article that had been started on the PS3za.co.za forums and in it, I found an absolute gem of a post by one who goes by the name of Valente. What it is, is a "remix" of the article but this time, modified for the Xbox 360 instead of the PS3 and with quite a comedic twist to it as well. I had a really good laugh reading through, as will you and the towel comment is absolutely priceless although he does also speak many truths as well.

While it was updating, I went to the store and got me some Earmuffs to drown out the sound of the 360's Jet engine.... Too bad then that After 3 hours worth of cables, fire extinguishers, updates, Live, scratched disc's and whatever I really didn’t feel like it anymore.... I thought the updates were necessary because the “glitches” in Fable 2 was not great, but Gears runs fine (well the online doesn't), and it doesn’t need an update? The sad ending to all of this is that Christmas is coming and a lot of people may be receiving 360's for gifts, I just think it really sucks and borders on unacceptable that all the stuff needed to enjoy your 360 could be ruined by the infamous RROD."... Not that it matters, the Wii has sold a gajillion units and will probably continue to do so even if news spread that it was killing small animals.

I love Rayman Rabbids, after the disappointment of having to write that Gears article earlier I could think of nothing better than heading over to GameTrailers to cheer myself up with some psychotic bunnies. It’s a pity this next iteration of the Rabbids is only coming to the Wii as that means a lot of people are going to miss …

Just a reminder to anyone who may have actually forgotten, today is the day that the New Xbox Dashboard Experience arrives. When you get home and switch on your Xbox 360, you will be asked to update. Once the update is downloaded and complete, you can start creating your avatar and messing around with the new layout. I am really looking forward to the new party chat that will allow 8 players to hook up and chat as well as move into game lobbies. All in all the new dashboard might not be as impressive as what Sony has planned for Home but I am really excited at the idea of never having to look at another dashboard blade go "whoosh" across my screen ever again.

  Tawkn.com has posted up a huge list of rumoured features that will be arriving with the Closed Home Beta Tomorrow… Of all the points the one that stood out the most was the fact that they have dumped that virtual PSP idea and have rather gone with a simple menu structure and are also utilising the ingame XMB option. …
