Microsoft has finally admitted what all Ninja Gaiden fans have known for quite some time. They then released the patch again a few days later on the …

Anyone who is a fan of the Midnight Club series will be happy to know that some media for the game has finally been released onto the net. The above video shows off some of the games automotive beauties tearing up the streets of Los Angeles and gives us a short look at how the city is going to look in the game. For those of you who didn't know, the game will be using the same engine as GTA IV and it is apparent as there is definitely a similar feel to the visuals. There are more videos available on Gametrailers.com featuring the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, Sallen S302 Extreme and the Dodge Challenger Concept Dub Edition so check them out if your a fan.

Toshiba to try keep DVD's in play

By Nick De Bruyne

You may remember that I while back we posted an article about a new technology from Toshiba that plans to upscale standard DVD's resolution to a near 1080p resolution instead. The new technology is called SRT (Super Resolution Technology) and according to those who have been lucky enough to see the demo's so far, it makes quite a difference. Enough of a difference to actually take on Blu-Ray? I'm not so sure. Some industry journalists are saying that this is all apart of a "master plan" from Toshiba to undermine the Blu-Ray format, as they will also be offering a service called DVD Download DL, which, with the use of an internet connection, will download additional content for your DVD movies that would previously only have been available on the BR format. As much as this technology will make consumers stick to standard DVD's for a longer time, I believe that it will only be a matter of time until the new HD formats take over anyway. Even with companies like Microsoft also pushing for digital distribution there are still going to be the two factors that will come into play. Some people like the idea of collecting movies and putting them on the shelves. Most people I know that love collecting DVD's very rarely watch the movies more than once, but they still like having them on the shelves in their pretty little boxes. The other factor is convenience. Is it actually more convenient to download a movie and store it on a drive? Especially with the new and larger HD movies being released it could actually be quicker to go to a store and rent/buy the movie on disc rather than sit and wait for it download. I do like what Toshiba is doing in that it's a different approach that will add even more value to people who have built up large movie libraries on DVD. As for the future, I think that it can only last so long until it loses the battle to true HD formats. Should Sony have to worry?

Does Videogames make Childs Cleverer?

By Nick De Bruyne

A study is being conducted by the American Library Association to try and find out if videogames are actually helping children become smarter. Using games like Singstar for literacy and Guitar Hero for hand-eye coordination, the Libraries hope to create a new set of activities to interest children and find new ways to learn. This is some great and positive news to hear as the recent Thai list of dangerous games isn't helping the image of videogames much. Reading, stabbing, what's the difference anyway?

More Mass Effect DLC on the way?

By Nick De Bruyne
August 8, 2008
in :  Gaming

Greg Zeschuk of Bioware has mentioned possible new DLC for Mass Effect whilst speaking with MTV, saying "We’re also looking at some other post-release content". I couldn't wait for the first Mass Effect DLC "Bring Down the Sky" to be released, I went out and bought MS points and everything only to be let down by a really short and unimpressive little side mission that left me feeling like I had wasted my points. It's with this in mind that I am slightly sceptical about any more DLC that may be released. When pushed further on the topic, he went on to say that: "We’re talking about that. You know how we are. We’re always very circumspect until we can go “Aha! There it is!” With everything we build now, we want to have this long-term relationship with the customer and always have something for them to try. So we’re definitely looking at that for “Mass Effect.” If Bioware do look to release some more DLC I only hope that this time they do it properly and add a new city to the mix, with some new NPC's and a couple of decent side quests. I will keep my ear to the ground on this one because I always have hope that they will add more great content to what I thought was a fantastic game.

Crackdown 2 a real possibility

By Gavin Mannion

Crackdown is one of the best games released so far on the Xbox 360. I personally preferred it to GTA IV and I am sure this game would have had a better reception if it hadn’t been bundled with that Halo 3 beta key. However the much expected sequel seemed to have been condemned to an early death but we …
